About

“Schrader’s X” is the behind-the-scenes film that documented a historical motion picture event.

Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver, Last Temptation of Christ, The Mosquito Coast, Raging Bull, American Gigolo) was hired by Morgan Creek to direct The Exorcist: The Beginning.

Schrader was fired after principal photography was wrapped because he delivered a film the studio did not like.

Morgan Creek’s James Robinson then went on to hire another director, Renny Harlin, to reshoot the entire film.

Historically this has never been done before using the same actors in two separate films about the same story.

After Renny Harlin’s version tanked at the box office, Morgan Creek realized there was an audience for Schrader’s intellectual thriller version. Morgan Creek
then moved to release a DVD of Schrader’s version, but without the directors consent of the cut.

Schrader’s X‘ is the film directed by Tim Silano, that documents how Paul Schrader beat the Hollywood system and the devil to get his original film completed.
